When I first moved in, I wondered why people were all carrying their pets in front of our house. A few days later I asked my neighbor... "there are rats bigger than my dog on this block, and I am worried of her catching any deceases from these rodents". It didn't take me too long to see the extend of this problem. Our Japanese Maple tree in the front yard is in trouble. All the rats that are tunneling underground is trying to get through the chicken wire around the roots. We had to remove a 2 rats (half-dead) from under the roots. Rats were bitting through our front door. One showed up dead on the stoop. All in all we have removed 7 dead rats inside our property. Given all the construction and open space rats are everywhere is becoming a public health issue. Atlantic Yards should address the rodent problem it has brought to this neighborhood!!!!!!!!
We do see the severity of the issue regarding this issue. Please also refer to the forum board http://www.atlanticyardswatch.net/rodent-infestation as we are trying to create greater awareness regarding this issue and other similar cases. Hopefully, this sense of urgency can lead to possible mitigation measures.
