Building Shaking at 626 Dean Street

Location:
626 Dean Street - between Carlton & Vanderbilt
When:
August 30, 2012 - 11:39am
311:
C1-1-778979561

For the past two days, the entire building at 626 Dean Street has been shaking. My apartment spans the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building and the floors, windows, railings, picture frames and glassware have been shaking and rattling from 7am onward due to the construction taking place in the parking lot site immediately across Dean Street.

While the noise is bothersome, the larger issue here is the danger of structural damage to the building -- damage that may not present itself until construction is complete and the crews responsible long gone.

Judging from the equipment being used on the site, it appears the rock crusher is responsible for the vibration and shaking. Is it unreasonable to perform rock crushing elsewhere on the site? Somewhere further from the residential dwellings on Dean Street? Somewhere where the risk of structural damage to nearby buildings is materially lower?

Thank you,
dp
