Rodents have been an ongoing problem at Atlantic Yards, and there is a perception in the community near the site that construction at the site has caused problems for residents and business owners nearby.
Solving the problem of rodent infestation is complex and involves coordination of all the stakeholders involved: the contractor doing construction work as well as the affected property owners and tenants.
this rat problem is
this rat problem is ridiculous theyre going in to apt buildings running in to the park and no one seems to care i hate the neighborhood now it has changed so much since my childhood. I dont enjoy living here anymore from the stadium to the new housing being built every where
rodents
The number of rodents have increased dramatically in the past several months. One cannot walk down Carlton Avenue, Dean Street or 6th Avenue without encountering several rodents. They are there during the day, in the evening, all the time - it is disgusting and dangerous. The increase in construction has created this increase and needs to be addressed by Forest City Ratner.

civil service employees free parking a big part of the problem
With the NYPD, FDNY, DHPD and other city agencies, clustered around the site, much of the street parking, regardless of the posted signs, is permanently gone. The AY project exacerbates this problem tremendously, of course, because free parkers simply just encroach on the rest of the area with no regard to the people who have to live here. One of the side effects of this is that the mechanical street sweepers cannot do their job. The garbage on already filthy DEAN ST is ankle deep in many spots, making it a haven for rats.
This is not rocket science. The solution is obvious, even as it will never be implemented.
